Full mouth rehabilitation was completed using a combination of single-tooth dental implants and implant-supported bridgework. What's the difference between All-on-X and Full Mouth Rehabilitation?
All-On-X uses 4–6 implants to support a fixed arch, replacing an entire arch of missing or failing teeth. It’s the ideal solution when most or all teeth in an arch are gone or can’t be saved. Full Mouth Rehabilitation is a broader, staged treatment plan that can include a combination of implants, crowns, veneers, gum treatment, and more. It is used when the whole mouth needs restorative attention and aims to preserve natural teeth. Your free consultation will clarify exactly which path suits you.
Am I a good candidate?
Many patients who’ve been told they lack sufficient bone are still suitable candidates, especially for All-On-X. Implants can be placed at an angle to maximise available bone, and we can use Pterygoid implants, which are anchored in the pterygoid bone, to restore function in the posterior upper jaw, especially in cases of severe bone loss. A CBCT and intraoral scan at your free consultation gives our clinicians and team a precise picture of your bone density and structure, so we can tell you definitively what’s possible in your case.
How long does the treatment take from start to finish?
For All-On-X, many patients receive provisional teeth within 24 hours of surgery. Final permanent teeth are typically fitted 3–6 months later, once the implants have fully integrated. For Full Mouth Rehabilitation, the timeline depends on complexity. Treatments are staged to be manageable for you, and we’ll map this out clearly in your personalised plan at the consultation.
Is the procedure painful?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia; however, oral and IV (intravenous) sedation is available if you’d prefer. In very specific circumstances, we might consider GA procedures in a hospital setting. Discomfort in the days following surgery is manageable with standard pain relief. Our clinical team will support you every step of the way and provide full aftercare guidance.
